About Metoclopramide HCl (MOTILLEX) 5mg/5mL Syrup 60mL
Metoclopramide HCl (MOTILLEX) 5mg/5mL Syrup 60mL is an oral gastrointestinal stimulant and antiemetic designed to relieve symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and delayed gastric emptying, especially in pediatric and adult patients who require or prefer liquid medication. Each 5 mL of syrup contains 5 mg of metoclopramide hydrochloride, an active compound that enhances gastric motility and accelerates gastric emptying without increasing gastric secretions.
This syrup formulation is especially suited for children or patients who have difficulty swallowing tablets. It offers convenient and accurate dosing with a pleasant taste, making it ideal for home or clinical use. Metoclopramide works primarily by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract, reducing the signals that trigger nausea and vomiting, while promoting coordinated contractions of the upper digestive tract.
MOTILLEX Syrup is widely used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), diabetic gastroparesis, postoperative nausea and vomiting, and to support feeding in patients with difficulty emptying the stomach. It is often prescribed for short-term use and should be used under medical supervision due to the potential for neurological side effects, particularly with prolonged administration.
