About Levofloxacin (QUINOGEN) 500mg Tablet 100’s
Levofloxacin (QUINOGEN) 500mg Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolone class, used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. Each tablet contains 500 mg of Levofloxacin, an effective antibacterial agent that works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for DNA replication and repair. This mechanism halts bacterial growth and ultimately kills the bacteria.
QUINOGEN is indicated for use in adults and suitable adolescents with confirmed or suspected bacterial infections, including those affecting the respiratory tract, urinary tract, gastrointestinal system, and skin. It is commonly prescribed for community-acquired pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, urinary tract infections (UTIs), prostatitis, acute sinusitis, and certain types of skin and soft tissue infections. Due to its excellent tissue penetration and long half-life, it allows for once-daily dosing in many cases, promoting better patient compliance.
Levofloxacin is well absorbed orally and achieves high bioavailability, making it a practical option for both outpatient and hospital-based treatments. It is often chosen when switching from intravenous to oral therapy.
